The Coronavirus has had quite an impact on all students. But its impact was hardest felt by high school seniors. Sadly, this milestone evaporated right before their eyes. For all the sacrifices this group made, a momentous senior photoshoot was in order. It was a fitting end to a difficult year.
The Models
After three months of being quarantined, New York State is now in phase 2 of reopening, which means photographers are allowed to operate. My goal was to photograph high school seniors. But where would I find them? Fortunately, my neighbor just happens to have a senior, Brooklynne. A conversation set the ball in motion and this group of five teens brought my vision to life.
Brooklynne
I’ve know Brooklynne since she was eight. Her authentic personality draws everyone to her. Kids adore her! Photography is her hobby, so I was grateful that she agreed to be my assistant, and a competent one at that!
Cassidy
Cassidy is Brooklynne’s best friend. Although she exhibits a shy demeanor, throughout the shoot, I would throw a prompt at her that would emit these little giggles that endeared me to her. Her aspiration is to be an educator.
Jake
Jake’s easy going manner made him easy to photograph. How fortunate was I that his dad owns this 1954 Dodge Royale. This car was a huge hit! Jake will proudly serve our country in the Army National Guard.
Elaina
Elaina will be a junior in the fall. She is demure and proceeded cautiously to my photography prompts. But she warmed up quickly and we captured some genuine moments.
Lucia
Lucia is entering her senior year. Her wardrobe matched her vivid personality. She eluded confidence and was a natural in front of the camera.
Final Thoughts
What a momentous senior photoshoot! These graduates navigated through a pandemic, and rose above it. They demonstrated strength, determination, and endurance. These life lessons will go a long way towards a brighter future. Congratulations to all graduates of the class of 2020. You did it!
